Winifred Mae Wilson, age 75, formerly of Custer, SD, joined her son Michael in eternal life on Friday, September 19, 2014, at the Sanford Living Center in Chamberlain, SD.
Winfred was born September 22, 1938, to Hugo and Mae Aho in Worcester, MA. She lived in Worcester until she married Paul Cochran in June of 1957. Paul moved her back to his hometown in IL where they farmed. To this union 5 children were born. In 1976, Winifred pursued her life's dream and graduated with her LPN degree in North Platte, NE. She moved to Custer in 1983. She worked at nursing homes in Custer and Newcastle, WY.
Winifred had a talent and love for plants and gardening. After her son's passing in 1998, she took this love and talent and made a beautiful memorial garden in honor of her son. She enjoyed fishing and being outside.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael, her parents, and her brother Hugo.
Winifred is survived by two sons, Jesse (Brenda) Cochran of Tryon, NE; Jamie (Heather) Cochran of Mesa, AZ; two daughters, Paula Butler of Pensacola FL; Sammie (Dave) Bland of Custer, SD; two sisters, Andrea Dutton of Monmouth, IL; Linda (Pat) Gilligan of Pacific, MO; two brothers, Paul (Ruthie) Aho of Corvallis, OR; Wayne Aho of Leominster, MA; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 4, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Custer.
