Yvonne M. McCarthy passed peacefully the morning of September 10 ^th , 2019 surrounded by her loved ones in her Custer, SD home after 85 wonderful years of life.

Yvonne was born to Clarence and Minnie Thorne at their home in Denver, Colorado on March 9 ^th , 1934. She grew up with her five sisters Helen, Ann, Jean, Clarice and Connie Jo. Throughout her life she never met a stranger who didn't comment on the twinkle in her eye or the beauty of her smile. She was warm, caring and had an infectious laughter. It was all of these wonderful attributes and more that brought her and Kenneth McCarthy together. They married August 2 ^nd , 1959 and spent the next 48 years raising their four beautiful daughters, Valerie Keele, Connie Thomas, Kim Singer and Erin Aulner.

Yvonne was an attentive and loving mother. She raised her children with ever open arms and always brought sunshine to their dark moments. To everyone who knew her, especially her children and grandchildren, she was home. She was strong minded and had a rebellious streak but she always exuded love in every little thing she did. In her many years, she shared a beautiful friendship with her best friend and partner in crime, Cheri Jacobson.

Her hobbies throughout her life included puzzles, crosswords, cooking, decorating and the occasional blunt(number). She also enjoyed gardening, music and visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by her four daughters, their husbands, her 10 grandchildren, 13 loving great grandchildren and many, many more friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held in her native home of las Vegas, Nevada. Details to follow.
