Margaret Yvonne Sigafoos Taylor was born August 8, 1936, in Hot Springs, SD, the daughter of Margaret May (Smith) Sigafoos and Byron LeRoy Sigafoos. She joined 2 older brothers, William (Bill) and George, and a younger brother Charles, was added 4 years later. Yvonne lived in Hot Springs all her life except 2 ½ years when the family lived in Lusk, WY.
She graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1954. She graduated from National School of Business in Rapid City with a Senior Secretarial Certificate in 1955. She was employed at the VA Medical. Center in Hot Springs from 1955 -1976, when she left to be home with her family. She returned to the VA in 1988 and retired in 2001 with 30 years of service.
During her time away from the VA, she was the secretary at Bethesda Lutheran Church and part time at the Mormon Church, which allowed her access to the Library for her genealogical research. She did extensive genealogical research on both sides of the family.
In 1965 she married Robert L. Taylor in Hot Springs. He was a meat cutter and meat market manager for Nash Finch (Piggly Wiggly). They had 3 children, Richard (1967), Ronell (1969), and Kristy (1976). She has one grandchild, Christopher, and one great-grandchild, London.
Yvonne joined the Independent Order of Oddfellows in 1957. She joined Naomi Rebekah Lodge #14 in Hot Springs in July 1957. She was also a member of Unity Canton Auxiliary #13 of Rapid City, and Hot Springs Ladies Encampment Auxiliary #30 in Hot Springs. She served as President of the Rebekah Assembly of SD in 2012.
She was an avid bowler and joined the VA Bowling League in the late 1950s. After she had children, she quit but returned to bowling league after her husband passed away until she could not do it anymore.
After Bob passed away she did some traveling with her brother Charles to the west coast.
She loved flowers, puzzles, coloring, game shows and country music.
She will be dearly missed by her children Ric, Ronell, and Kristy, her grandson and great-grandson Chris and London, and her brother Charles and sister-in-law Judy, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, brother William (Bill) and his wife Barbara, and brother George.
Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2026, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2026. Committal services will follow at Pringle Cemetery in Pringle, SD.
