William Chamberlain

Owner/Funeral Director

Raised in Nebraska and following in the foot steps of his grandfather, Thomas (Bus) Chamberlain and father, Thomas O. (Tom) Chamberlain, Bill became a funeral director. Bill attended Chadron State College and graduated from the San Francisco School of mortuary Science in 1985. Bill served his apprenticeship under his father at Chamberlain Chapel where he worked until moving to Custer in 2001 and has resided there with his wife, Susan. He manages the Custer, Edgemont and Hot Springs locations. We truly appreciate Bill's accomplishment in providing an enjoyable working environment for his employees, we wouldn't be the same team without him!

Elodie Hawkins

Officer Manager

Elodie was born in Colorado but moved to South Dakota with her family in 1997. She enjoys all the great outdoor activities the Black Hills offer: hiking, biking, swimming and camping. Elodie loves being able to meet with families and get to know their loved ones that have passed, to help make a memorial tribute by designing memorial folders, DVD tribute videos and candles they can treasure forever. "She is our right hand that makes sure everything gets done."

Deann Arneson

Funeral Assistant

Deann was not only raised in rural Hot Springs but she was blessed to have raised her family here as well. Deann retired from a career with the federal government to fulfill a dream of working in our funeral home. Her passion is to make things a bit easier for families and loved ones during this extremely difficult time in their lives. Deann is a SD life insurance agent and will gladly assist you with pre-planning and pre-funding your funeral arrangements.

Bill Young

Assistant

Bill is a graduate from Custer High School and Black Hills State University. From BHSU he received his Bachelor's Degree in 1963 and his Master's Degree in 1969. Bill is now a retired teacher of 40 years in education. Bill and his wife, Linda, of 39 years+ have four children, Theresa, Christine, Kathleen and Steven. He has nine grandchildren and three step grandchildren. Bill is a member of the Knights of Columbus; St. John's Catholic Church; Custer Regional Hospital Board Member and the Pringle Fire department. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and many outdoor activities. We appreciate having Bill on our team!
